The Flemish Bandits is a ten-part historical fiction series based on the famous novel by Louis Paul Boon. It tells the story of Jan De Lichte (a highwayman), a highwayman who was active in Belgium in the middle of the 18th century, during the Austrian war.

Accused of desertion and murder during his military service, Jan manages to escape and returns to his region of birth to deliver a message. He discovers a rough, divided world of classes where there’s no good or bad… just bad and worse. With a strong belief in a better life, but haunted by the mysterious accusations on his behalf, Jan convinces outlaws to organise themselves to fight the painful injustice and escape their miserable fate.
